Resource Conservation and Recycling Measures

PLUS Group actively implements the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in our products and services to achieve a recycling-based society.

MRS (Material Rebirth System)

“MRS (Material Rebirth System)” is our total recycling system for used office furniture products.
We collect office furniture such as desks, chairs, cabinets from customers who are giving up them due to a move or a change of premises. Products in good condition are auctioned to secondhand shops every week, to efficiently give them back to the market. Any items unsold in the auctions or too much damaged for reuse are delivered to our business partner for material recycling or other appropriate processing.

Recycling Services for Confidential Documents

In recent years, laws and regulations call for more controls over management of information to prevent the personal information from leakage. To respond the situation, we provide our customers with the recycling services for confidential documents. In the service, we first erasure the confidential contents from the documents at a plant, then transport them to the other plant for recycling. While the paper fibers are removed from confidential documents to make paper products, thermal recycling process is used for non-combustible materials to yield electricity, raw materials for cement and steelworks and so on, achieving a recycling rate of 100%.

Use of Sawdust from Large-Scale Precipitator

In our Atelier Factory located within PLUS LAND, we use the large-scale precipitator to collect an abundance of sawdust emitted during the machining process of furniture production. Larger pieces of sawdust get separated from “dusty air” and hardened into pellets around 10cm in diameter which is reused by local cattle farmers as a substitute for straw in their barns.

Recycling and conservation of raw materials in our Vietnam Plants

PLUS VIETNUM INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD. (Dong Nai Province, Vietnam) is our production hub of stationery products. The first factory in Vietnam was built in Bien Hoa industrial zone in 1996 to start manufacturing staplers and other stationery and office supply products. The second factory in the Nhon Trach industrial zone has been in full-scale operations since May 2010 to manufacture scissors, Polypropylene (PP) folders, PP files, and so on.
In the Bien Hoa Factory, the robotic arm collects plastic resin offcuts and put in a grinder to fully utilize the resources.
The Nhon Trach Factory has worked to reduce waste of plastic resin by replacing numbers of PP roll sheets with bulk-rolls. The factory successfully cut back the waste as much as 91t in a year.
Also, the factories harvest rainwater in the water storage tanks during the rainy season (May- October) and utilized it as cooling water for the manufacturing facilities. In 2019, 2,340ℓ of the rainwater was utilized in the factories.
