Material Balance

The energy and water input of business activities in the stationery field and the output of substances that create environmental burden is shown below.
We will investigate the environmental burden generated by our production activities in the stationery business to promote the reduction of both environmental burdens.

Environmental impact intensity

This index indicates the scale of each environmental burden versus sales volume. Environmental burden generated by production is targeted.

CO2 emissions intensity
(t-CO2/million yen)
Water withdrawal intensity
(m3/million yen)
Waste emissions intensity
(t/million yen)
1.05 6.08 0.06

Waste product breakdown

Waste products generated by production are targeted.
We will thoroughly sort and properly treat waste products while endeavoring to reduce and recycle as much as possible.

Item Waste emissions (t) *1 Recycling rate *2
Metal 1 93.5%
Plastic 15
Paper 1,108
Others 225
  • *1 exclude household waste
  • *2 include valuable waste

Recycled content ratio

The fossil fuels needed for plastic production are limited in amount. By efficiently recycling plastics, fossil resource usage can be further reduced. Moreover, utilizing wastepaper pulp can reduce unnecessary deforestation and lead to sustainable forest management. In order for us to be able to make these things happen, we are promoting the active utilization of recycled plastics and wastepaper pulp in our products.

Item Total materials purchased(1,000t)* Recycled materials purchased(1,000t)* Recycled content ratio
Plastic 14 5 35.1%
Paper 14 8 58.2%
  • * The purchase volumes are the masses converted assuming a 100% recycling rate for plastics and 100% compounding ratio for wastepaper pulp.
(excl. plastic parts and packaging finished on the purchase)

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions

Emissions during production processes are targeted.
The reduction of chemicals emitted in the air is one of the issues for the reduction of environmental burden, so we will endeavor to continue to reduce volatile organic compounds emitted in the air.
