Company history

1948 February Chiyoda Stationery Corporation founded.
1959 May Name changed to PLUS Corporation.
1960 April PLUS Steel Industries Corporation founded as a manufacturing division.
1962 October Concluded a business partnership for sales with Duplo Seizo Corporation.
1963 December PLUS Industrial Corporation founded as a manufacturing department.
1979 December Kanto Logistics Center constructed and started operation.
1980 May PLUS U.S.A Corporation founded.
1981 August PLUS System Engineering Corporation founded.
1983 March DLM Japan Ltd. founded.
  April Institute of Office Environment founded.
1984 May PLUS Service Center Corporation founded.
1985 November Launched the “Office Convenience Business”.
1986 January Concluded a business partnership for sales of office furniture with the Italian company Olivetti Synthesis.
  June Voice System Service Corporation founded.
  November Took over business of Saitama Silver Seiko Ltd. by acquiring all shares of the company. This business was relaunched as PLUS Industrial Corporation.
1988 March Kansai Logistics Center opened.
  May PLUS Material System Corporation founded.
  August Voice System Service Co., Ltd. name changed to PLUS Facility Installation Corporation.
1988 November Institute of Education Environment founded.
1990 February PLUS U.S.A. Corporation dissolved and PLUS Corporation of America founded.
  March Started Phase 1 construction of Block 1 (plants and logistics facilities) of PLUSLAND.
  May PLUS Logistics Corporation founded.
  May PLUS System Engineering Corporation name changed to PLUS Information System Corporation.
1991 March Higashi Oogishima Center opened.
  April PLUSLAND Maebashi plant completed.
  May Iruma file plant established.
  September PLUS Facility Installation Corporation merged with PLUS Logistics Corporation.
1992 May Oota Plant established.
  June Started Phase 2 construction of Block 2 (training facilities) of PLUSLAND.
1993 March Launched ASKUL overnight delivery service for office supplies.
  July PLUSLAND Otowa Club (training facility) and PLUS heliport completed.
  November PT Chemicals Co., Ltd. founded
1994 March  “Meeting Scene business” Division started.
  September Duplo Corporation Limited founded.
  October PLUSLAND Factory Area selected as a “Good Design facility” of 1994.

1995

May PLUS Industrial Corporation founded PLUS Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd in Dong Nai Province in Vietnam.
  August Tokorozawa file plant founded.
  October PLUSLAND Otowa Club selected as a "Good Design facility" of 1995
1996 October Began operating “Office Today” chain of stationery convenience stores.
1997 May ASKUL Corporation founded.
  September “QDS (Quick Delivery System) business” started. (Name changed to Biznet in May 1999.)
  December PLUS Industrial Corporation Iruma Plant acquired ISO9001 certification.
  December Launched SKLEX (School Express), catalog mail-order service for educational supplies and solutions.
1998 February Maebashi Plant and Oota plant acquired ISO9001 certification.
  March PLUS Industrial Corporation Maebashi Plant acquired ISO9001 certification.
1999 September Launched “Garage” business, aimed at creating a new market for SOHO furniture in cooperation with stores.
2000 January Launched the new sales system “Voice Office System”, providing furniture and related services for small and medium offices beyond the conventional manufacturer channels.
  February The headquarters of PLUS Corporation, PLUSLAND, and Iruma Plant of PLUS Industrial Corporation acquired ISO14001 certification.
  May Biznet Corporation, Voice Corporation, BB Search Co., Ltd., and PLUS Financial Service Corporation founded.
  October Began full-scale sales of Schiavello custom-made office furniture from Australia.
  October Acquired part of the business of ITO Corporation.
  November PLUSLAND won the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Director's Award for its tree planting contribution.
2001 January PLUS Corporation of America acquired the business rights and brand of Lightware, Inc.(U.S.A).
  February Acquired a 51% share of Marudai Co., Ltd. a mass merchandise wholesaler
  March Acquired an 87.5% share of Tokyo Needs Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and wholesaler of PC supplies.
  April Jointex Company, a new type of office market wholesaler, was founded.
  May PLUS Corporation and PLUS Industrial Corporation restructured their businesses, launching four new companies: PLUS Vision Corporation PLUS Stationery Corporation, PLUS Space Design Corporation, and PLUS Industrial Corporation.
  November Completed construction at PLUSLAND of Atelier Factory Co., Ltd., a plant and studio for manufacturing wooden office furniture.

2002

June PLUS Logistics Corporation entered the auction market for used office furniture
  June The headquarters of Biznet Corporation acquired ISO14001 certification.
  June Atelier Factory Co., Ltd. achieved the zero-emissions target.
  August PLUS Space Design Corporation acquisitioned business rights from Interior Division of Dodwell Marketing Co.,Ltd.
  October PLUS Vision Corporation and PLUS Industrial Corporation merged.
2003 February PLUS Vision Corporation and PLUS Stationery Group acquired ISO14001 certification.
  August JOINTEX Company started to operate its “smart office” business.
  October PLUSLAND awarded the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry's Award its tree planting contribution.
2004 February Marudai Co., Ltd. acquired the whole business of Tokyo Needs, and changed its name to Optima Co., Ltd.
  March PLUS Logistics Corporation acquired Green Management certification.
  July PLUS Corporation and PLUS Financial Service Corporation merged.
2005 March PLUS Furniture Company acquired ISO14001 certification.
  April The staff agency business was separated from PLUS Corporation and established as an independent company: Bright People Corporation.
  April Acquired certification for ISMS and BS7799, both for Information Security Management System.
  April PLUS Corporation and JOINTEX Company merged, aiming at strengthening market functions in office furniture business.
2006 February Imaizumi Technical Research Institute became a wholly owned subsidiary company
  April PLUS Vision Corporation transferred its projector business to Kaga Components Co., Ltd.
  April All shares of Plus Information System Corporation were transferred to Hitachi Business Solution Co., Ltd.
  November Opened BTO shop of office furniture “+PLUS” in Akasaka
2007 April PLUSLAND Maebashi plant awarded the Prime Minister's Award for Contributions to the Greening Campaign.
2008 April PLUS Logistics Corporation made Hankyu Service Co., Ltd. a subsidiary company.
  May JOINTEX Company was integrated with the headquarters of Institute of Education Environment.
2009 December Acquired entire business of PLUS Vision Corporation.
2010 February Merged with PLUS Stationery Corporation.
  June PLUS Europe GMBH founded in Düsseldorf in Germany.
  September Merged with PLUS Space Design Corporation.
